FOUNDING:
The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM)
is an independent non-profit organization founded
in 1982 by families who had lost loved ones
in drunk driving crashes. AAIM was Illinois'
first citizen action group dedicated to the
fight against driving under the influence.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Since 1982, AAIM has gained a high degree of
credibility in the state's law enforcement,
legislative and business circles. Their rational
approach to legal reform has helped solve problems
on Illinois' highways. According to former Governor
Jim Edgar, "AAIM has been from the beginning
one of the major supporters of our efforts to
make our highways safer." He continues further
by saying "what we have been able to achieve
in Illinois has been a group effort. I can't
think of any group that has contributed more
in getting the drunk driver off our highways
than AAIM."
