Annual Honoring Amie 5K Fun Run/Walk
Amie Elizabeth Titus was a vibrant young woman, a kind and generous friend, a hard-working student, and the eldest daughter in a close-knit family residing in St. Charles, IL. During the summer of 1998, she was involved in an internship in the marketing department of Sears, and was preparing to complete her senior year at Western Illinois University. Amie had been offered full-time employment at Sears upon her graduation. She wanted to get married and raise a loving family, like the one in which she had been raised. She was an active member of the Delta Zeta sorority, and with her family, an active member of the First Baptist Church of Geneva, IL. Her family was forever changed on July 25,1998, when Amie was killed in a drunk driving crash. At the tender age of 21, Amie's dreams and goals were taken from her, and her tragic death devastated her family and many friends. Amie’s parents, Steve and Terri Titus, greeted visitors for 13 hours at her visitation; she was a friend to everyone she met.
Gretchen Steil Weiss, a dear friend of Amie took the opportunity to celebrate the life Amie lived by organizing “Honoring Amie 5K Run/Walk”.” On November 8, 2014, Gretchen, the Titus family and many friends gathered at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva, IL to celebrate Amie’s life and to help raise funds to help support AAIM’s Victim Assistance Fund.
