1998
Sheila Forsner Award Presented to Nancy Foy
On
March 18, 1993, Tom Foy was killed by a drunk
driver. His wife Nancy "wanted to die. It was
the only way to tolerate this horrendous pain."
Then Nancy found AAIM. She joined the AAIM Board
of Directors and the AAIM Benefit Fashion Show
Committee.
Nancy worked tirelessly on making our silent
auction a tremendous success. Along with her
mother, Bernice, she went to businesses all
over the Chicagoland area "selling" AAIM and
our program of donating money to victims who
have been financially devastated by an uninsured/underinsured
motorist.
Nancy
took over the enormous task of compiling the
results of our annual
DUI survey of police departments and sheriff's
police from all over the state. She put her
computer skills to good use crunching numbers
and creating awards for those police officers
who deserved recognition for their outstanding
job, arresting impaired drivers.
Nancy
had given so much to this cause. She has started
giving speeches to DUI offenders in order to
demonstrate the devastation that drunk driving
caused. The victim impact panels are presented
in hopes that offenders will not repeat their
crime and cause another family the pain victims
endure.
AAIM
salutes the dedication and perseverance of this
remarkable woman.
